Ellen DeGeneres clears up the pronunciation of Saoirse Ronan’s name.

Saoirse Ronan is making a name for herself with Oscar buzz circulating for her starring role in “Brooklyn.” But while she is definitely making a name for herself, quite a few people have had trouble pronouncing it. Thanks to an appearance from Saoirse on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show, Ellen attempted to clear things up for those confused about the pronunciation of “Saoirse.” Take a look at the Instagram image below to see Saoirse Ronan wearing the phonetic spelling of her name.

Back on November 4, I had a guest spot on Huffington Post Live to speak with Saoirse about her film “Brooklyn” and how she is becoming quite a diverse actress. Of course, I was able to pronounce her name correctly (with a bit of googling on how to say it haha). You can fast forward to 28 minutes to see my question but the entire interview gives a rather enlightening perspective on her career and her film Brooklyn. Watch below.

I would recommend that everyone keep an eye on Saoirse Ronan in the years to come. She is making headway fast and will most likely become a household name in the future…that is of course if you can pronounce it. Many are predicting that she will score an Oscar this year and it would be well deserved.

Her film “Brooklyn” is currently in a limited number of theaters and getting outstanding reviews. So check your local theater listings (probably the smaller ones) so you are prepared for the Academy Awards and other award shows later this year.

What are your thoughts on Saoirse Ronan as an actress?
