Marvel And Fox Actually Worked Together For ‘Deadpool’ And ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’

Could this be the dawn of a collaboration between Fox and Marvel?

While working on their respective properties, Marvel Studios and Fox actually collaborated for a character swap. In return for Fox’s creative liberties taken with Marvel’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead in Deadpool, Fox allowed Marvel to use Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While a Sony/Marvel type collaboration isn’t in the near future for Marvel and Fox, Kevin Feige himself acknowledged the improved relationship.

“With the release of Doctor Strange, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently let it be know that a big union between Fox and Marvel was still far off – but as we now learn, the two have managed to work out a deal for two of their respective films: Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2.”

While this may seem like a small step, it’s actually a giant leap in relation to the two studios’ history. The feud between Fox and Marvel has been persistent for quite some time. Tensions rose last year when Marvel eliminated Fox owned characters from its comics. But now it seems as though Marvel is planning to reintegrate some of these characters back into their comic books.

Feige says that a full collaboration between Fox and Marvel Studios is not in the near future, but that may be subjective. With both studios nearing the end of the road for some characters and actors’ contracts, they may both be looking at a reboot. Fox is already planning on rebooting the X-Men franchise. Marvel will be forced to rethink their options as well once “Avengers: Infinity War” concludes. Hopefully this could be good news for fans rather than a both studios making efforts to reestablish the characters we’ve already come to love.

What are your thoughts on this small but progressive Fox and Marvel collaboration?
