Sophie Turner and Lana Condor totally embody Jean Grey and Jubilee in the photo below!

Bryan Singer is at it again on social media! Sharing a photo of Lana Condor and Sophie Turner, he gives us a glimpse of what Jubilee and Jean Grey will look like in a 1980s setting. From the Instagram share below, I have to say that I am more than pleased with the look of these two characters.

The minute that I heard that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner was cast as Jean Grey I immediately agreed. For the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse film, which is set in the 1980s, this is the time for characters to truly flourish. The casting choices seem excellent thus far from a visual perspective and the 80s are definitely a time to showcase “vibrant” clothing.

From what we’ve seen thus far, Bryan Singer seems to be painting the perfect picture of the 1980s. The clothing, the mall scene, and even the references to 1980s trends and films all fit into the period which is also the time when comic book sales were at a high. Jubilee (Lana Condor) is a perfect fit for this period with her style of clothing and I’m glad that we get to see her character grow during this time period when it makes sense. Sophie Turner also fits into the time period with the subtle but applicable attire known as “mom jeans.”

Going off of the fact that the 1980s were a milestone era for the X-Men, Bryan Singer has a lot to live up to. He has taken many creative liberties in the past that have ultimately paid off, but I would consider it smart to take a note from the 1980s-1990s X-Men comic books. He truly needs to capture the essence of this period of stories like he did with “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” No one is expecting for Singer to hold true to the comic books, but he should definitely be influenced by them.

What do you think of the pictures thus far? Are you excited for a 1980s X-Men film?
