Winona Ryder confirms that “Beetlejuice 2” is happening!

In an interview with Seth Myers, Winona Ryder was asked if she was able to provide details regarding the status of Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” sequel. While she was a bit hesitant at first, she agreed that the film was indeed happening citing a previous interview where Tim Burton confirmed much of the same. Take a look at the interview with Seth Myers below.

Winona Ryder is the third “Beetlejuice” affiliate to confirm that a sequel is in the works. The other two to confirm the details of the film are Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice himself) and the film’s creator and director Tim Burton. The Tim Burton interview that Winona Ryder referenced was in response to Michael Keaton who first confirmed the news. From Keaton’s initial response, it sounds like he has had an interest in “Beetlejuice 2” from the start.

“I’ve emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff…”

In response to Michael Keaton, Tim Burton elaborated upon the details of the sequel. He went as far as announcing that a script was written and that he would like to work with Michael Keaton once again.

There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever… I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”

With a strong fanbase, a high profile director, and two of the film’s stars on board, the only remaining issues are working out scheduling and getting a studio behind the project. “Beetlejuice” was indeed a masterpiece and a film that defined the creativity of Tim Burton. While his other work may include iconic films like “Batman” (1989) and “Edward Scissorhands,” it was “Beetlejuice” that is arguably the most well known, creative film of Tim Burton. I can’t wait to see how the details of this sequel pan out.

What do you think? Will a “Beetlejuice” sequel happen?
