Valentine’s Day is only 3 months away and ladies can’t wait for “Fifty Shades of Grey!”
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is a book that has been sexually enlightening for many women. The book takes your parents’ Fabio romance novels to a new level with its taboo sexual themes of bondage and sadomasochism. I’ve never read the “Fifty Shades of Grey” novels but I have glanced over at a few passages from my girlfriend’s copy. From those few excerpts I will say that this film will need to be at least rated “R” to meet the expectations of most readers. The book is very explicit and if they plan on including some of those key moments from the book, there is no way they could give this film a “PG-13” rating.
While I know that many studios feel an “R” rating means a smaller demographic, for this film I would have pushed for an “NC-17” rating. “Fifty Shades of Grey” is a film that could succeed better with infamy and an “NC-17” rating would maintain the biggest factor of allure for the novel…the controversy. The type of crowd going to see this film will not have a “PG-13” frame of mind, they’re fans of the novel and have “R” or “NC-17” expectations based on the book.
The film is slated for release on February 13, 2015.
