When Stephen King is done well it is amazing. When it is done poorly they can be some of the worst films. Sadly those terrible films greatly outnumber the good ones. So much so that I could not hope to see them all so if you notice a truly terrible Stephen King film not on here I believe you. There's just a good chance I just haven't seen it yet. Remember there are other years and almost certainly enough material for more lists on this subject.

Let's get one thing straight, I realize this list of best Stephen King films isn't terribly mind-blowing. What I'm putting on my list is probably what 90% of other people would put on their lists. But they're all just that good, there are others I may like as much as these but the entries here are clearly the best. What may be interesting is to see what exact order these Stephen King movies come in because before writing I never really had them specified in any particular way. So let's get started.

It hasn't been a great couple of years for Stephen King adaptations. Which makes me all the happier to announce that “IT” was really good, PENNYWISE LIVES! “IT” is widely considered one of Stephen King's best (and longest) books. We had a miniseries back in 1990 that gave a generation of kids coulrophobia. However, I'm sorry but aside from Tim Curry it just hasn't aged well. So let's see why this adaptation seems to work so much better.

Stephen King fans should rejoice as the highly anticipated “The Dark Tower” film is officially on its way. With this trailer that should meet or exceed fan expectations, this film is shaping up to satisfy fan demands. Just from what we can see from the trailer, Idris Elba has already found his way into the gunslinger persona. Matthew McConaughey carries his usual dapper style dressed in all black and I’m curious to see how well he does in a darker role.

As a kid I hated the feeling of being afraid and couldn't imagine I'd ever be a fan of a horror film. But it happened though it's rare for a film to really honestly scare me anymore. It may be that since I study film production I can almost always see the strings as it were, so when a film/TV character does scare me it makes me take all the more notice. Now again I'm not restricting myself to just horror films as there have been some truly scary people in other genres. But don't expect to see Freddy or Jason or the like on this list as I didn't watch those kinds of movies

‘The Shining’ Gets The Opera Treatment?!

I’m sure it’s different for each person, but I would also wager a guess if there is one story that the general public would think of first, it would be “The Shining.” King had two previous successful books before this, but this was his first bestseller in hardback. However while the book was and still is very popular, it’s the film adaptation by Stanley Kubrick starring Jack Nicholson that is the reason for it’s place in popular culture. Now the Minnesota Opera has created an Opera version of the story.

11.22.63 – Episode 8 – Hulu Review

Well, it’s all over. This week wasn’t the worst of the bunch, but it definitely wasn’t a memorable finale of any kind. When friends that haven’t read the book come up to you and say, “I was upset with this episode and didn’t even read the book,” then you must take my word for it and understand that this week was pretty dismal. A lot of ground and information is covered in a short amount of time, creating something that doesn’t feel rushed but it definitely doesn’t have enough of a core or a life to feel like anything substantial to you. I said last week that I didn’t care about the show or any of the characters anymore. I knew this week wasn’t going to change my mind about that, but I was hoping for a “good” episode (like week two). That didn’t happen, so unless you’re dying to see if Jake Epping saves JFK or not, then go ahead and watch it. If you’re feeling disappointed and unfulfilled by the end of this episode, then go ahead and read the book. I promise you won’t be disappointed with it.

We’ve been hearing things for quite some time regarding the film adaptation of Stephen King’s “Dark Tower.” From release dates to casting rumors including Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba, “Dark Tower” seemed more like a mechanism of speculation rather than a film we’d actually see. But when it comes to confirmation of the film actually happening, the man responsible for the source material definitely carries some clout with his opinion.

The reason I just had a little rant about my fondness of Stephen King is because the adaptation of his novel “11/22/63” will be premiering on Hulu in February. I remember hearing about this mini-series being green lit, and I’ve specifically made it a point not to read any news or watch any trailers. That all failed when the trailer happened to burn across my television screen, tickling my excitement bug even more. The trailer does make the mini-series look appealing, but as a fan of the novel, I’m a little worried, of course.
