Top 5 Least Charismatic A-List Hollywood Actors

When the biggest celebrities have the smallest personalities, we count down the top 5 least charismatic actors.

Generally when we think of Hollywood celebrities we think of beauty, charm, grace and charisma. We imagine these social creatures who are adeptly skilled at getting inside virtually any headspace and bringing to life an entirely new identity. We assume that ranks these A-Listers among the most interesting people in the world. Well, that’s not always the case. While they may be decorated thespians or box-office breadwinners, they don’t always carry that on-screen charisma with them into their daily lives. That’s why we’re counting down our list of the Top 5 Least Charismatic Actors. Find out who makes our list after the jump.

5. Jesse Eisenberg

Big surprise right? Jesse Eisenberg, aka Perfect form Michael Cera and the current crowned prince of on-screen neuroticism, is actually hyper neurotic in real life. That’s right between the acid washed stoner-action flick “American Ultra” and his re-interpertation of Lex Luthor in “Batman V Superman,” Eisenberg has let his flag of non-charisma fly though a slew of press panels and talk show interviews. Unfortunately for viewers, and in some cases the host, Eisenberg’s entertainment value is incidental at best. I would give his level of charisma only 2 out of 5 jars of “Grandma’s Peach Tea.”

4. Robert De Niro

While some of you may be surprised about how iconic screen-sage Robert De Niro could possibly be one of the most un-charasmactic actors, his notoriety in that regard is well-documented. First there’s his long-term David Letterman stand-off, which despite coming to ahead with the help of “Meet The Fockers” cast-mate Dustin Hoffman was still hardly palatable. Then there are his more recent antics during his press tour for “The Intern” where he labeled condescending for walking out on an interview after reportedly telling the interviewer “I’m not doing this, darling.” I would have probably been on board if he simply walked out after saying “You talkin’ to me? You talkin’ to me?”

3. Crispin Glover

Crispin Glover is looked at as one of the most unique on-screen personalities in Hollywood, so I guess that it’s no surprise that he’d be equally unique in real life. The George McFly actor has proven to be just as bizarre in interviews. Perhaps most notoriously in the infamous 1st appearance on David Letterman doing promotional work for his film “River’s Edge.” In the interview his nervous energy is at 100% when at one point he laments to Letterman, “people try to make me sound a lot weird[er], and I’m strong, you know. I’m strong and I can arm wrestle.” It’s hard to say whether Crispin was pulling an Andy Kaufman over the audience or he was hopped up on experimental supplements, but it’s certain that charismatic he is not.

2. Joaquin Phoenix

I think little explanation is needed to illustrate Joaquin Phoenix’s jarring lack of charisma. From his false proclamations of holy matrimony to his bizarrely bearded and bewildered appearance on Letterman where he announces his upcoming hip-hop career and leaves his used-gum on Dave’s desk, Phoenix has been both the boy who cried wolf and the wolf who… um… cried boy… in any case he is befuddling in his interviews. Perhaps his cringe inducing appearances are just an extravagant ruse from a two-time academy award nominee, or perhaps he is just one of the most underwhelming un charismatic actors in Hollywood.

1. Kristen Stewart

I have to preface this by saying, I am openly a big fan of Kristen Stewart. I’m not talking “Twilight” era Stewart, but “Snow White And The Huntsman,” “Adventureland,” “Camp X-Ray,” “Still Alice” prove that she transcends the pop-tart box-office mold and proves he award-worthy chops. Still, she is painfully awkward to watch in interviews. Perhaps is partly due to her Louisville slugger bluntness or brutal honesty about details of her life, but Stewart is the worst and least charismatic interviewee I have ever seen. From her bizarre choice of anecdotes, personal confessions and nervous energy fidget frenzies, Stewart has managed to perplex viewers of “Ellen” to “Saturday Night Live.” While I will continue to love her movies, I won’t be tuning into her talkshow appearances anytime soon. Mirror Mirror, on the wall, who is the least charismatic of all? All signs point to Snow White…

Pooya: Since his wee lad-dom, Pooya has been a sommelier of cinema. It was likely some acting bug, fallen from the dust riddled ruby curtains of an enchanted old stage that did it. Those cinematic scarabs must have burrowed deep into his brain, irreversibly altering his mind, turning the poor boy down a dismal path. From his earliest years the strange boy would aimlessly wander the aisles of countless video rental stores, amassing his trivial knowledge with vigor. These actions befuddled the boy’s parents, who still would lovingly oblige his unusual attraction to the motion picture. Often seeking refuge in the cushioned seating of his local movie theater, the odd adolescent would immerse himself in the scripted and effects riddled realities unfolding on the screen before him. During his collegiate years, he was twice spotted on stage performing bizarre theatrical rituals before awe-struck audiences. When he departed from academia, he left behind his youth in exchange for a labor routine, but the strange young man never lost his long-cultivated love of film. Recently, Pooya was approached by FilmFad.com to join their budding team of entertainment bloggers. After hours of coaxing and an undisclosed number of honey jars, he accepted their offer. Finally he had come full circle. Finally, at FilmFad.com, he was home.
