X-Men TV Series Is Greenlit And Pilot Picked Up By Fox

An X-Men television series is heading to Fox!

Fox has officially ordered the pilot for a currently untitled X-Men television series. The project will be produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Television which will be their second collaboration following “Legion.” Matt Nix will serve as both executive producer and writer for the series. This project is said to be more closely tied to the X-Men universe than the upcoming series “Legion.”

Nix’s X-Men television series is said to be more directly tied to the X-Men mythology than Legion, which used the character of David Haller as a jumping off point to create its own mini-universe and supporting cast.

While the project remains untitled at the moment, there are a few details. The main characters are said to be two human parents who have a mutant child. This child is sought after by the government sending the family on the run where they discover and join an underground mutant network.

Matt Nix also has an X-Men TV movie he is currently writing. This project is also untitled with no details. Nix has quite a bit of experience as a television writer. Matt Nix has written for the highly acclaimed series “Burn Notice” since its inception as well as a few other series.

The X-Men TV series is currently slated for a 2017 release date on IMDB. I’m sure it will be updated and pushed back to 2018 or later unless they fast track the series. So for now take that release with a grain of salt.
