The Runner Trailer Hits the Web Starring Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage appears in this controversial trailer for “The Runner!

Lately when we think of Nicolas Cage we think of poorly rated films and static character development. With the first trailer for “The Runner,” we may get the Academy Award winning Nicolas Cage that we knew so long ago. Dealing with controversial topic (the oil industry) and working alongside up and coming Actress Sarah Paulson and acting great Peter Fonda, Cage might have his sights set on critical acclaim with “The Runner.” Take a look at the trailer below and tell us what you think!

The BP oil spill in the Gulf is definitely a controversial topic and the cast list involved definitely have some clout surrounding their names, but is this enough to break the Nicolas Cage stereotype that we’ve come to know? While a younger Nicolas Cage was someone to idolize and praise, today’s Nicolas Cage has been the butt of many jokes. But it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a Hollywood comeback (anyone remember Matthew McConaughey?).

Surprisingly the subject matter of this film is actually appealing to a large group of people. The oil spill was a big issue that many were aware of and “The Runner” gives audiences an opportunity to get intimate with this topic. Instead of making this a global issue, “The Runner” brings the battle to a local community by focusing on New Orleans rather than the spill’s effects on the world. I, for one, am a fan of the underdog comeback story and would love to see Nicolas Cage find his niche once again in Hollywood. While he may be a “joke” at the moment, he is an Academy Award winner and his potential is far greater than what people give him credit for. I am interested to see how “The Runner” plays out.

How do you think Nicolas Cage’s film will play out?
