Marvel Infinity Stones Explained in New Featurette

The latest Marvel featurette provides insight into the mysterious Infinity stones.

The digital release of Avengers: Age of Ultron is just around the corner and said to be loaded with special features. One of those special features was a featurette released online and provides a detailed explanation of the mysterious Infinity stones that we’ve all been curious about. Take a look at the featurette below.

For many this seems more like a confirmation of theories rather than being entirely informative. It’s definitely a supplemental piece of the puzzle but there are still a few pieces missing; two to be exact. While we (fans) knew that the soul stone and the time stone were the two Infinity stones left, in this featurette we finally get to hear it said from the creators of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“What do you do with the soul stone? What do you do with the time stone? How do you play that out?”

Just as “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was a big event, it sounds like Marvel is planning for “Avengers: Infinity War” to be even bigger. The Infinity stones seem to be acting as bridge that brings together the entire universe. We can probably expect to see the Guardians of the Galaxy encounter the Avengers and maybe some Netflix Marvel characters as well.

Despite many of these characters joining forces, it seems like the main villain should be a more than formidable opponent. Thanos is described as a “supreme god” in comparison to Thor who is known as god himself. While Thor may be one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, Thanos will be unlike any villain we’ve ever seen before. The superheroes we know will no longer be able to depend on one particular powerhouse to stop him, this may be the first necessary team collaboration.

How do you think the Infinity stones will change the MCU?

He later became their Senior Writer which led to a variety of other projects, radio show appearances, features, and high profile celebrity interviews. • Its not so much a matter of the Infinity Stones changing the Marvel Cinematic Universe as this is the plot device that shapes it, much like the One Ring in Lord of the Rings. There's a lot of stuff going on, but if all revolving around this one thing. Fortunately in this case, we have multiple components which are incredibly powerful and have different attributes that different stories can be built around. Its not a matter of "Oh they're going to be dealing with the Death Star... again"; its "oh, now this component is being revealed, and this thing is getting closer to coming to a head". Marvel's done a great job of both teasing this out and keeping fan excited for it. Thanos, as a character, was the first to get me excited and curious about continuity, and him as the overall big bad is a perfect choice.

The featurette was nice and not I can just point people to it instead of having to explain the Infinity Stones to my non-comic reading friends and family.
