Lupita Nyong’o in Talks For Marvel ‘Black Panther’ Role

Lupita Nyong’o may be headed to Wakanda!

“Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens” cast member Lupita Nyong’o may be making her way to Disney’s other owned property Marvel. After seeing Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther in “Captain America: Civil War” fans have been anticipating his standalone film. Now with things moving forward more rapidly, it was discovered that Lupita Nyong’o is in talks to appear in the film. Currently we do not know who her character will be, but her character is said to be the love interest of Black Panther.

N’yongo’s character has not been revealed, although she will be the Panther’s love interest.

Lupita Nyong’o has been making waves in Hollywood with her wide array of roles. She won an Oscar for her performance in “12 Years a Slave,” she found her way into “Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens,” and more recently showed off her vocal acting talents in “The Jungle Book.” She’s made all of the right moves thus far to make a name for herself except for finding a role in a comic book film.

If these talks turn into a solidified role for Lupita, many are already wondering which character she could play. There haven’t been many love interests in Black Panther’s life except for Ororo Munroe aka Storm. Since Storm is an X-Men character, there’s no way Lupita could play that role unless Marvel and Fox begin to play nice like Marvel and Sony did with Spider-Man. My guess is that her role will not be that “super” and will probably fall in line with some sort of Wakandan royalty. Hopefully it will be something a bit more significant to the story.

As a side note though, wouldn’t she make an awesome Storm? Alexandra Shipp is currently playing the role in “X-Men: Apocalypse” but having a an up and coming actress like Lupita Nyong’o in a role like that…WOW.

Black Panther is set for release on February 2, 2018. Production is said to start in early 2017.

How significant do you think Lupita Nyong’o’s role will be?
