Kenan Thompson leaving Saturday Night Live after this season

SNL star Kenan Thompson is finally calling it quits with “Saturday Night Live.”

This is a big loss for “Saturday Night Live.” Kenan Thompson is currently the most seasoned cast member and in my opinion, one of the most underrated.

Sources connected to SNL tell us … Thompson — the most tenured African-American cast member in the show’s history — planned to leave last season, but decided to stay after head honcho Lorne Michaels asked him to stay on … citing the show’s massive turnover this season.

We’re told Kenan has no hard feelings and is leaving on great terms. Our sources say he’s in talks for a new show and plans on moving to L.A. (with his wife and brand new baby) when the season ends.

Kenan Thompson has been an asset to Saturday Night Live despite their decline after the loss of so many key players. He’s had many key characters throughout his SNL career. His impression of Steve Harvey has been a riot in almost every skit with a particular favorite being during the period that Steve Harvey was hosting “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”

One of my particularly favorite characters of Kenan’s has been DeAndre Cole on the recurring skit “What Up With That.” While his others have been very entertaining, this is probably my favorite of all of his skits. The amount of ridiculousness that occurs throughout the skit is a spectacle in itself

Kenan, you will definitely be missed!
