Jim Henson’s Labyrinth has a sequel coming

“Dance magic dance!” Jim Henson’s classic film “Labyrinth” is getting a sequel!

It’s almost been 20 years since “Labyrinth” hit the big screen and we were introduced to both Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie’s moose knuckle. In an interview with Billy Crystal, Variety reported multiple films in the works in addition to the “Labyrinth” sequel.

It’s also working on a quartet of legacy titles in the Henson library — a “Fraggle Rock” movie that’s been in development at New Regency; a sequel to 1982’s “The Dark Crystal”; a sequel to 1986’s “Labyrinth”; and a movie based on the Emmet Otter character.

While the sequel to “Labyrinth” may be confirmed, there is no confirmation of whether David Bowie will reprise his role as the Goblin King. I’m guessing that Bowie will make some sort of appearance in the film but as of now there’s no confirmation of which original cast members (if any) will be apart of the sequel.

Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock movie in the works?

In addition to “Labyrinth,” news of “Fraggle Rock” and “Dark Crystal” films may excite their respective fan base. Although many may complain about the Hollywood fad of reboots, it’s a cash cow formula that is currently working so I’m not surprised to see Jim Henson’s projects falling into the mix.

What do you all think of a Jim Henson franchise reboot/revamp?
