Jena Malone is Barbara Gordon in Batman V Superman

Jena Malone is Barbara Gordon in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice!”

The mystery of Jena Malone’s character in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” has been debatable. Recently it was reported that she would play Carrie Kelly aka Robin in the film. That came from credible source and many accepted that to be true. Well now things may have changed because according to Latino Review, Jena Malone is “reportedly” set to play Commissioner Jim Gordon’s daughter, Barbara Gordon.

For those not so well versed in the Batman comics (or Batgirl for that matter), Barbara Gordon has held many roles. Outside of being the daughter of Batman’s favorite police Commissioner, she also is a superhero herself. For years she took up the mantle of Batgirl and fought alongside Batman. Later she had to leave the mask behind due to a gunshot wound at the hands of the Joker. After being bound to a wheelchair, she continued to assist Batman as Oracle where she would use her knowledge and eidetic memory to help Batman solve crimes.

While her character may have been revealed as Barbara Gordon we do not know how influential her character will be in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The screen time would begin to be a bit crowded with another superhero battling in the mix but could be exciting nonetheless. I would say that Jena Malone being introduced as Batgirl would be unlikely due to the amount of onscreen heroes. Oracle could be a possibility as Batman tends to have some sort of technical support for his gadgets and detective work. But I personally think that she may just be Barbara Gordon and we may get a few “A-ha” moments during dialogue exchanges. Then again, this could be another “misreported” piece of news.
