First Pic of Supergirl…What Do We Think?

The first picture of CBS’ “Supergirl” has hit the interwebs!

Ever since it was announced that “Glee” star Melissa Benoist had been cast as Supergirl, we’ve been wondering how the character would look. Well today we get our first look at Benoist as CBS‘ “Supergirl.” Take a look below!

I think that Melissa Benoist looks good in the outfit but not great. I don’t think it’s her in particular but rather the suit itself. The suit seems to fall in line with the “dark” motif that many of the superhero films and TV are starting to follow, especially DC related projects. Instead of vibrant colors of red and blue we see a more maroon and navy colored costume which isn’t that drastic from the colors we see in everyday clothing and other attire.

Outside of the costume, how Benoist will do as Supergirl is questionable. For many that follow her character on Glee, we know that she has played a very victimized, damsel in distress type role struggling to gain confidence. Outside of that she had a brief role in “Whiplash” where her character was much of the same but only briefly explored.

Melissa Benoist is going to have to step outside of her comfort zone to prove she can be independently strong. To go from being a borderline victim to playing an iconic superhero is a big step. So the question is, “Now that she has the shoes, can she fill them?”

What do you think of the costume and Benoist?
