Emma Stone and Jonah Hill are joining “True Detective” Director Cary Fukunaga for a dark TV comedy.

Based on a 2014 Norwegian comedy titled “Maniac,” Paramount and Anonymous Content are set to produce a TV dark comedy of the same name. While they are still shopping around for a writer, the two “Superbad” stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill will be reuniting for this project. Emmy winner Cary Fukunaga (known for “True Detective”) is said to be directing every episode of the series thus far.

While the details about this adaptation are only in the infancy stages, we may be able to learn about what’s to come based upon the original “Maniac.” The original series revolves around a mental patient named Espen who creates his own fantasy world in his head while held in a psychiatric ward.

In addition to their starring roles, Emma Stone and Jonah Hill will also serve as executive producers for “Maniac.” Cary Fukunaga and Anonymous Content’s Michael Sugar and Doug Wald will also be executive producers on the project.

Fukunaga recently gained acclaim for his work on “Beasts of No Nation” which was also another collaboration between him and Anonymous Content. Both Fukunaga and Anonymous Content made the deal Paramount for “Maniac” and it was packaged together by WME. Other details such as the expected release date have not currently been disclosed.

What are your thoughts on this collaborative adaptation? How do you feel about Jonah Hill and Emma Stone being reunited?
