5 Movies that’ll Make You Yell ‘Murica!

Time to ignite your grills, toss on some hot dogs and red meat, pop open a beer and raise your sparklers to the sky; it’s the 4th of July!

America, F*ck Yeah! – Trey Parker

That’s right world, we at FilmFad.com are celebrating the grand old Red, White and Blue (and FilmFad’s 1 Year Anniversary), the American way. What better to serve up a slice of home cooked Americana, than our nation’s favorite past time. No, I’m not talking baseball… I’m talking about HOLLYWOOD! That’s right join us as we list off five movies that are sure to make you yell ‘Murica!

5. The Patriot

Should the American colonies govern themselves independently? I believe that they can, and they should.

What is more ‘Murican than a peaceful farmer Benjamin Martin being driven to lead the Colonial Militia during the American Revolution after an A$$hole of a British officer murders his son. This film celebrates America’s independence with a story about … well… American’s independence. Side note: few people run better while holding the American flag (or an earlier version of it) better than Mr. Gibson himself.

4. Independence Day

“We will not go quietly into the night!” We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Remember that time that Will Smith almost single-handedly saved America (and the rest of the world) from Alien invasion with none other than his ‘Murican sensibilities? I sure do, and so does the rest of America. Beyond the films namesake, ID4 touches on so many aspects of Americana. Whether it’s Randy Quaid, a crack-pot former military pilot, trying to do right by his kids, POTUS Bill Pullman selflessly trying to save his planet, or Jeff Goldblum saying “Uh,” ID4 has it all in spades.

Just incase you forgot what Will Smith did for us… ‘Murica!

3. Captain America (Franchise)

Yeah. I punched out Adolf Hitler 200 times. – Captain America

Captain. America. Need I say more? Not really, but I will. Whether he is fighting the Nazis, making dates and showing up decades late, thwarting hydra, decapitating robots and aliens or making Tony Stark keep it real, nothing says ‘Murica more than the charging star himself, Steve Rogers. This Marvel borne blonde hair blue eyed beacon of the American way has brought the patriotism to superhero cinema in a big way. With going on three solo films and two team up flicks with the other “Avengers” the Captain is one to consistently make it happen when it comes to ‘Murica in the movies.

Note: Captain America’s Murican BadAssery DOES cross borders… just FYI.

Here is an example of Rogers displaying the full range of his ‘Murican badassery in “Captain America: Winter Soldier.”

2. Top Gun

Maverick: I feel the need…
Maverick, Goose: …the need for speed!

If Goose and Maverick don’t instantly invoke a sense of ‘Murica, then I don’t know what does! As students at the United States Navy’s elite fighter weapons school compete to be best in the class, one daring young pilot by the name of Maverick (Tom Cruise) learns a few things from a civilian instructor that are not taught in the classroom. What says ‘Murica more than high flying dog fights, explosions, and a young, dumb and full of… um… Gum (?), Tom Cruise? Nothing! Well, except for the next a TOP entry in our list of movie that make you yell ‘Murica!

Does Maverick need to repeat himself?

1. Team America: World Police

We Protect. We Serve. We Care.

When the former North Korean ruler, Kim Jong-il (voiced by Trey Parker) concocts a terrorist plot of global proportions, it’s up to the massively munitioned tactical marionettes of  the elite Team America squad to violently halt his nefarious plan at any cost… any cost. But with a newbie on the squad, causing a rift between certain teammate and the menacing and traitorous F.A.G. (Film Actors Gild) in their way, Team America must pull together and be the biggest “dicks!” It goes without saying, that this is one of the most red, white and blue riddled films out there, with an endless pipeline of ‘Murica.

Pooya: Since his wee lad-dom, Pooya has been a sommelier of cinema. It was likely some acting bug, fallen from the dust riddled ruby curtains of an enchanted old stage that did it. Those cinematic scarabs must have burrowed deep into his brain, irreversibly altering his mind, turning the poor boy down a dismal path. From his earliest years the strange boy would aimlessly wander the aisles of countless video rental stores, amassing his trivial knowledge with vigor. These actions befuddled the boy’s parents, who still would lovingly oblige his unusual attraction to the motion picture. Often seeking refuge in the cushioned seating of his local movie theater, the odd adolescent would immerse himself in the scripted and effects riddled realities unfolding on the screen before him. During his collegiate years, he was twice spotted on stage performing bizarre theatrical rituals before awe-struck audiences. When he departed from academia, he left behind his youth in exchange for a labor routine, but the strange young man never lost his long-cultivated love of film. Recently, Pooya was approached by FilmFad.com to join their budding team of entertainment bloggers. After hours of coaxing and an undisclosed number of honey jars, he accepted their offer. Finally he had come full circle. Finally, at FilmFad.com, he was home.
