5 Actors That Could Play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’ or ‘X-Force’

Who should be Cable for “X-Force” or “Deadpool 2?”

With the success of Deadpool, many are wondering where Fox will go next with the series. A sequel to the film is pretty certain and we’ve already heard that Cable is in the future from Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld. But before things get moving and someone is chosen to play the role, here are a few of my reasonable (and obscure) picks to play Cable.

5. Joe Manganiello

Joe Manganiello would be a great pick for his physique and slightly grey hair. Despite those silver fox looks, he’s still got a bit of a youthful look when compared to the Cable that we all know, but that could be a good thing. If Cable is going to be a franchise character then they’ll need a more long term commitment from an actor. An aging actor may not have the longevity to continue the role like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

If Joe Manganiello were to play the role, they could grey his hair a bit more and we could probably get quite a bit of films out of the actor. If you go through his other roles, Joe is an actor that is made to play a more serious and militant character (outside of “Magic Mike”). I could definitely see his ferocity as added value when accompanied with Deadpool.

4. Liam Neeson

4. Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson can do it all and he’s proven this to us time and time again. Whether he’s training Jedi or Batman himself, Neeson has been a go to actor when it comes to action films. He may be aging but with the continual push of films like the “Taken” trilogy, “The Grey,” and many more to come, I can’t see any superhero or villain going toe-to-toe with him without a bit of intimidation.

3. Kevin Nash

Yes I’m pulling from the “Magic Mike” cast once again, but doesn’t Kevin Nash just look the part? Like Joe Manganiello, he’s got the physique and intimidation factor on his side, and I don’t think anyone could argue against him looking the part of Cable.

He may come from a professional wrestling background but we’ve seen many wrestlers go into film and be successful as action stars. He also wasn’t bad in “John Wick” so I think he could pass for Cable and still appease the fans.

2. Mel Gibson

2. Mel Gibson

Despite the controversy surrounding Mel Gibson, he’s actually an accomplished actor and remained to stay in pretty good shape for “The Expendables 3.” He’s also had his fair share of action films including “Lethal Weapon” and being the original “Mad Max.” And speaking of “Mad Max,” he already knows how to play a hardened vigilante in a post apocalyptic world, so he’s essentially got the role of Cable down.

1. Stephen Lang

This seems to be the people’s choice for Cable and there has been many rumors surrounding Stephen Lang taking the role. He’s a bit older at 63 (older than Mel Gibson) so he may not get the years out of the role that we’d like but if things could get moving soon, he could definitely fit into the role well.

Who are some of your picks for Cable?

Ryan: Ryan has been fascinated with film and pop culture since childhood. Throughout college he "played it safe" taking the more lucrative route of being a computer programmer while squeezing in film related courses where he could...but even during his post college career, he could never escape his true passion. After following one of his favorite blogs for a long time, he approached the site's Editor about writing and they reluctantly gave him a shot. He later became their Senior Writer which led to a variety of other projects, radio show appearances, features, and high profile celebrity interviews. Despite his success with blogging, he still wanted more so in order to expand his creative addiction, he merged his IT skills and blogging know-how to create FilmFad.com which has continued to grow into a creative Mecca of pop-culture fun and integrity.   ryan@filmfad.com    Film Fad
