Trailer for Sundance winner Me And Earl And The Dying Girl hits the web

Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” releases the first trailer to the web!

Sundance is probably the indie film capital of the world shining light on a number of films that don’t have the marketing budget like other mainstream properties. With this year’s festival, a particular coming of age film caught the public eye. Winning the Grand Jury Prize, “Me And Earl And The Dying Girl” has been extremely well received by audiences and is making a name for itself and its cast. The film stars Olivia Cooke and Thomas Mann and from the trailer it seems to be quite a tearjerker. Take a look for yourself at the trailer below.

From the trailer alone, this film has my interest piqued. Coming from Author Jesse Andrew’s same titled book, “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” may capture audience acceptance by tugging at their heart strings. Already the high school setting creates that sense of nostalgic hardships that many had to endure. When you add a terminal disease like cancer into the mix it makes the emotional attachment that much stronger.

I’m familiar with Olivia Cooke but haven’t been engaged in anything notable that she’s been in. When it comes to Thomas Mann, I recognize him from his back to back roles in “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” and “Project X.” Both seem to be adequate actors for the roles and from the Sundance response, it seems like they were more than adequate. “Me and Earl and The Dying Girl” comes from the same studio as “Juno” and I kind of catch that same eclectic vibe. I think that throughout the film there will be a few quirky laughs to be had but in the end, this is going to be a film that invokes an emotional response making you feel enriched in spirit after watching. But of course that’s just speculation, haha.
