Trailer for ‘Central Intelligence’ Teams Up Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart

Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson come together for the action/comedy “Central Intelligence.”

“Central Intelligence” follows the story of a once overweight kid that was bullied (Dwayne Johnson) and the one person who showed him respect (Kevin Hart) during that period of his life. Much like the flashback to modern day story in “21 Jump Street,” “Central Intelligence” joins two unlikely characters in a comedic yet serious situation. Take a look at the trailer below.

Central Intelligence releases on June 17, 2016

This isn’t the first “odd couple” film for Kevin Hart. So far we’ve seen him team up with Ice Cube in “Ride Along” and Will Ferrell in “Get Hard.” But now Kevin Hart is going to the extreme by teaming up with a action superstar like Dwayne Johnson in a film with a comedic but very familiar plot.

Over the past year we’ve seen quite a few Tweets and videos posted to Instagram from the two but this is the first time we get to see them in full on cinematic action. As said before, the elements of this film do seem very similar. Not only when compared to other Kevin Hart films but when compared to “buddy team up” films in general. This “Starsky & Hutch” formula has worked very well over the years and continues to prove its success for both comedy and entertainment. “Central Intelligence” will definitely highlight aspects of that formula much like “21 Jump Street” did with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.

Overall I think this trailer gives a lot of detail as to what we can expect from this film. I can’t help but think and emphasize that it will be Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson’s version of “21 Jump Street” which is not a bad thing. This may be Kevin Hart’s most successful team up film.

“Central Intelligence” is set for release on June 17, 2016.
