The Poltergeist reboot trailer looks AMAZING!

The trailer for the “Poltergeist” reboot is here and looks amazing!

“Poltergeist” was originally released in 1982 and now over 40 years later it is getting a reboot. While we’ve known about the reboot for some time, today we see the first trailer for the horror film. Take a look at the trailer below.

I think Sam Rockwell being cast as the lead is an excellent choice. He’s quite a diverse actor that’s extremely underrated in my opinion. Outside of casting, the trailer looks amazing. It looks as if they captured many aspects of the original “Poltergeist” while giving it a fresh look. This is what a reboot should be, a way to reestablish a film that didn’t have the resources to reach its full potential.

Based on the trailer for this “Poltergeist” reboot, I think that we will get a standard Hollywood horror that draws in the nostalgic fans of the original film. The writer (David Lindsay-Abaire) and director (Gil Kenan) are both newcomers to this type of horror so it will be interesting to see if they can meet the fan expectations. The only “semi” horror credit that is held between writer and director is Gil Kenan’s work on the animated kids horror film “Monster House.”

While many writer and director talents aren’t genre specific, it does help to have some experience that is genre-related. On the other hand, a fresh face could be good for the horror genre. So many Hollywood horror films turn into cliché productions of abrupt scares and an abundance of CGI flair. Perhaps with these two virgins of the genre, we can get some of the classic horror creativity that made the original film so good.

So will this “Poltergeist” reboot do the original film justice?
