"Stranger Things" is something that if my little sister hadn't pressed me on it's possible that it would have passed me by like many other acclaimed Netflix series I just don't watch. So thanks Lily! I wanted to wait to make sure plenty of readers had finished. Overall I thought the new season was pretty good. A little “Ghostbusters 2”-ish with a little too much repeating, but enough new stuff to make it worth it. Still I love the show and can't wait to see whatever is coming next. Some things I'm more excited about than others. I think it's self explanatory, but SPOLIERS ahead.

Directed by Brian Henson (son of Jim Henson) and now starring Melissa McCarthy, “Happytime Murders” is a comedy that takes place in Los Angeles. The story surrounds two detectives, one human (McCarthy) and one puppet that are working together to solve a string of murders. The kicker is that the victims are part of the “Happytime Gang” which happens to be comprised of puppets.

There are sequels that are bad or just don't measure up to their predecessors, but sometimes they change what we thought of the first film. For a man who wasn't primarily into movies, my father often had some astute observations about film. Now this conversation we had was years ago when only 5 Rocky films existed, and for my entire life those films were seen as a punchline for jokes about a bad series. Yet somehow, the first film was an Oscar nominated film. I didn't get it. My father said something to the effect of "yes, but sometimes bad sequels can tarnish the original. It makes them think of just those sequels and forgetting how good the first one was."

I love comic books and the superheroes and I have a sizable amount of knowledge about a lot of them despite only owning and reading a rather small amount growing up, thank you internet and before that those ultimate guide books. However, as I’ve grown up I’ve had the funds to build my own comic book collection and have done so. So what does this have to do with a film website? Well it just so happens I am completely fascinated by comic books that are turned into movies and then turned back into comics. Not just any, but specifically the ones where they drew them back in the style of the original comics. For instance I almost put the Batman movie adaptation comics on here, but decided not to as it being drawn very close to the actor’s likeness made it not fit in with the rest of these despite how badass the Michael Keaton version of Batman looks in comic form. So let’s get this started before I get off topic again.

Due to my bad habit of tracking down every sequel to films I like, I forced myself to watch this. From the stupid plot that makes NO SENSE and does everything it can to undo the first film to the lackluster performances from actors who are no replacement for the originals. There is as little of a reason to watch this as there was to originally make it. I give it 1.5 stars out of 5.

The news broke last night that Alden Ehrenreich has been chosen to play young Han Solo in the upcoming anthology series. The movie is slated to open in theaters May 25, 2018. It will be written by, , the writer of "The Empire Strike Back" with directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie") already on board. This is an accomplishment in itself because the Hollywood Reporter confirmed that 2500 actors auditioned for the role. Dave Franco, Miles Teller, and Scott Eastwood (Clint's son) were rumored to be strongly considered.

We all know the Chuck Jones' “How the Grinch Stole Christmas," or “The Charlie Brown Christmas,” or any of the million versions of “A Christmas Carol” specials that are loved by all for how they get us right in the feels, but what about the ones no one talks about? It's staggering to think about how many specials have been made for this holiday. Some are terrible and we rightly forget about them but then there are those that deserve some love but fell through the cracks. I had more to talk about but, couldn't unify them under a good theme that made sense for all of them so I took the ones I most wanted to talk about and figured out the common link of them. I'm fine with going for quality over quantity. Oh and SPOILERS, lot's of SPOILERS.
