Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension Trailer is Here!

“Paranormal Activity” returns this Halloween with “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.”

We’re now on the sixth installment of the Paranormal Activity series hoping to startle and terrify audiences once again this Halloween. From the looks of the trailer it seems like they are crossing “Paranormal Activity” with “The Ring” due to the integration of a VHS tape conjuring a spirit. While this is only one aspect of “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension,” it does seem like they are casting a wide net this time around with multiple horror themes. So without further ado, here is the trailer for “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” coming this October.

Some may wonder why they keep making these films when the story seems to be closed. Well, when the original “Paranormal Activity” cost $15,000 to make and made $193 million, I think that the studios have a “bit” of wiggle room when it comes to losses for sequels and are probably willing to take the risk. Aside from that, the “Paranormal Activity” name carries a lot of weight when it comes to a Halloween release time. The first film is regarded as one of the most frightening films of all time due to its raw nature and “home video” style of shooting. Unfortunately the sequels that followed have drifted away from the low budget feel of the first film and added in some over-the-top Hollywood flair.

The final scene of this trailer is a deterrent for me and it’s because of the Hollywood flair. I’m all about horror films and keep looking for a film to scare me but when I see a ton of CGI in a horror film, I suddenly get disconnected. What made the first “Paranormal Activity” so great was the lack of Hollywood in the film. It felt like you were watching someone’s home video and you happened to witness an unexplained event. Subtle moments of horror are what scare me because no amount of CGI can compete with my imagination. I wish Hollywood would realize this and leave some things open for the audience to conjure up themselves. But besides that, I’m sure that many will flock to see “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” this October.

Will you be seeing “Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension” this Halloween or are you tired of the series?
