New ‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Trailer Shows the Start of War

The next trailer for “X-Men: Apocalypse” comes with an introduction to the war versus Apocalypse and his horsemen.

With the first “X-Men: Apocalypse” showing us an introduction to the character, it was only a matter of time before the second trailer emerged giving us a view of the war to come. Check out the second trailer below as Mystique kicks the battle off with the line, “Let’s go to war.”

This trailer supplements the first with a more detailed origin of Apocalypse, a further understanding of why his followers join him, and the destruction that Apocalypse will bring. We see one of the few moments where Oscar Isaac will be out of his Apocalypse attire and makeup through the origin flashback. This gives the perception that the blue skin that we thought Apocalypse was born with may be due to some ancient ritual that brings about his mutant powers.

I will say that I’m not pleased with Mystique’s role in the film. I know Bryan Singer has pushed her as a more prominent character throughout the franchise but I just don’t think she should be a leader of the X-Men. Yes, it’s Jennifer Lawrence but we’ve seen this character as a villain in the first films and walking the line after “X-Men: First Class.” She also lacks any real powers that would allow her to go toe-to-toe with someone like Psylocke as we see in this trailer.

The two main details that I was excited about in this trailer were the shots of all four horsemen together and Apocalypse growing and slamming Professor X into a pillar. Other than that, there wasn’t much more to this trailer than the previous. Nothing stood out that was newly awe-inspiring but I’m hoping that just means they will save more content for the actual film.

What did you think of the second “X-Men: Apocalypse” trailer?
