“Batman V Superman” is almost here and this final trailer puts its focus on Batman and his efforts to keep Gotham safe. This is essentially where the rivalry starts and we see it first in this trailer! Take a look below.
This is the first time that we get a mention of Batman/Bruce Wayne’s age being a factor when it comes to being a superhero. As he discusses how he’s gotten slower due to his age, Alfred discusses how he’s lucky to even be alive. But even though “Batfleck” claims that he’s slower, we still see him move pretty quickly to take down a handful of thugs in what seems like seconds.
Superman on the other hand seems to be in a period where he is flourishing as a superhero and a human. With a growing relationship with Lois and mostly praise from the rest of the city, Superman and Clark Kent seem to be coping very well with their duality.
From what we see in these trailers and others, the battle between Batman and Superman seems to have Lex at the source fanning the flame. Both have their own moral reasons for why the other must be stopped but I think it is Lex that pushes them to their breaking point through some form of manipulation. As we’ve heard the multiple metaphors of excitement coming from Lex’s mouth (“Day vs Night,” “Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham”), I believe that Lex may not be the start of the feud but he does push it to the extremes.
