The Monday Night Football “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” trailer is here!

While many were making jokes about having to watch football to catch the Star Wars: The Force Awakens latest trailer, the wait may have paid off. This trailer actually gives insight into what is happening in the film but does so without being “spoilery.” Take a look at the trailer below.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Poster

Just recently the final poster was released for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and gained much praise from viewers. The release of this poster was a perfect segway into the beautifully shot trailer that we receieved today.

While there are definitely some visuals worth noting, it is the dialogue that stole the show. Hearing that Kylo Ren is attempting to follow in Darth Vader’s footsteps and seeing Han Solo act as the mentor to the next generation gives the trailer a nostalgic feeling. It’s a passing of the torch while paying homage to the original trilogy which fans hold in such high regard.

I appreciate what Star Wars has done with their media thus far. It has been limited so there is still a bit of surprise left to had when seeing the film. Unlike other franchises that overloaded us with media (*cough* Avengers: Age of Ultron *cough*), “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has made a conscious effort to maintain its mystery. To be honest, I probably could have gone without even seeing this trailer but I understand the formula for building anticipation.

As a huge “Star Wars” fan myself, I cannot wait for this film. Some are already making preemptive judgements of whether it will be bad or good but for me, I’m just happy that another “Star Wars” film is being made.

Tell us your thoughts on the trailer!

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens on December 18, 2015.

I don’t know. I want to be excited. I loved the original trilogy. Didn’t like the prequels. Recently sat down to watch the original trilogy and just didn’t feel a magic anymore. I feel like I’ve outgrown Star Wars and that’s just horrible.

I don’t think I could say I’ve lost the magic, Star Wars has been too ingrained in my life since I was a child. Every part of every film has a bit of nostalgia that takes me back to those moments, even the prequels.

I can’t wait to get the theater experience once more for the opening day of this film.
