Star Wars Force Awakens Vanity Fair

See all of the key characters of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in the latest Vanity Fair cover shoot!

Avengers: Age of Ultron has now passed so it’s time to talk about the next heavy hitter, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In a recent photo shoot for the cover of Vanity Fair, we had the chance to see cast members new and old uniting. Take a look at the gallery and video short below for some behind-the-scenes “Star Wars” action!

In the photos we get to see Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron standing beside his X-Wing in full flight gear. We also get a glimpse of the landscapes where “Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens” was filmed. In a snowy “Hoth-like” tundra, we see Adam Driver in some dark attire alongside Imperial Snow Troopers. Many have speculated that he will play a villain and instrument of the dark side. From this photo it looks like the speculation is getting closer to the truth.

Of all of these photos above, I have to say that I find the cover photo to be the most interesting. In the photo we see classic cast members Harrison Ford (Han Solo) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) joined by Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn). Everyone has been wondering how these new characters will integrate into the plot of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” but I have two theories.

First in regards to Finn, I think it is one of two things. He is either a Stormtrooper that seeks redemption and abandons his platoon or he is an operative spy on a mission to retrieve information. While both sound interesting, I’m leaning towards him being a rebel spy making things circular in regards to plot elements by paying homage to the plot of “Star Wars IV: A New Hope.” While the defunct soldier idea is new and fresh, I think that JJ Abrams is going to reuse elements from the classic trilogy to better transition the old into the new.

Secondly is the anomaly that is Rey (Daisy Ridley). She could be a rogue rebel spy helping Finn but I think I’m going to agree with the masses and speculate on her being the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia. The photo of the group together on what looks like the Millennium Falcon reinforces my confidence in this theory. Sure they could have Han Solo acting as a smuggler once again to get Rey and Finn off of Tatooine, but I think all of their involvement is a part of a master plan. I believe that Han and Chewie are there to help his daughter Rey on a mission to gather intel retrieved from Finn. What the intel is or what they end goal may be is still a mystery, but I believe the cover photo eludes to this being a more concrete theory than the others.

What have you learned from this photo shoot? Is there something we may not see?
