Point Break reboot first trailer is here brah!

This Christmas one of the great gifts we will all be getting is the “Point Break” reboot. The 1991 film, starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves, has gained quite a large and passionate cult following over the years despite the mixed reviews upon its release. It is certain to bring in the bucks, but it is just another film in a long line of movies we all continue to ask Hollywood “do we really need that remake?”

The fact that so many movie fans, including Film Fad’s Editor in Chief (as evidenced by the namesake of his dog) regard this movie so highly is testament enough that the first is so good that we may not need another. We don’t need remakes of “Gone with the Wind” and “Casablanca,” so we may not need a remake of “Point Break.” Don’t get me wrong, I think the trailer looks great and I am eager to see it. The exquisite landscapes coupled with what looks like many intense high risk stunts (something we all crave in today’s CGI-laden world) will probably prove to create a very well-made action movie. However, like all reboots, this one will not escape comparison to the original and it has a much better original to overcome than a remake of let’s say… the “He-Man” reboot we are all still waiting for.
