‘Harry Potter And The Cursed Child’ Coming to Broadway?

“Harry Potter And The Cursed Child” could be coming to America!

“Harry Potter And The Cursed Child” hasn’t been enjoying quite the amount of acclaim that the rest of the series has gotten. But the stage play has nevertheless proven to be a big hit in London since it’s premiere last summer.  So it probably won’t come as a huge surprise to Potter fans that plans are now being made to bring the show over to Broadway with the hopes of opening in Spring 2018.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender and Ambassador Theatre Group are reportedly going to pull out the stops for this one.  According to Pottermore, they’re going to spend millions to transform the Lyric Theatre in New York.  This includes converting the currently 1,900 seat theatre to 1,500 in order “to accommodate the dramatic look and feel of ‘Cursed Child.'”

It was really only a matter of time before “Harry Potter And The Cursed Child” made its way overseas.  The original book series may have ended close to a decade ago but the “Harry Potter” brand is still going strong.  Besides the play, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is arguably Universal Studios biggest attraction. “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” has so far made over $500 million worldwide and counting at the box office.

Will you attempt to see “Harry Potter And The Cursed Child” on Broadway?

This was first reported by Pottermore.
