Arnold Schwarzenegger Could Be Back For ‘Predator’

Arnold could be back as Dutch for the next “Predator” film!

Arnold Schwarzenegger is essentially synonymous with the “Predator” films. He may have only been present in the first film but the battle between Dutch and the Predator was so monumental that the original film spawned into a franchise. Now with the upcoming “Predator” film titled “The Predator” from former “Predator” actor Shane Black, we may finally see the return of Schwarzenegger’s character Dutch.

When discussing the film, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke about the possibility of his involvement in the upcoming film. While he has not spoken with Shane Black directly, he has confirmed that he will be meeting with him in the future.

“I haven’t talked with him (Shane Black) yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon,” Schwarzenegger told The Arnold Fans. “Just as soon as I’m finished with this (Arnold’s Sports Festival) and “The Apprentice” and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away. There’s also a meeting coming up soon about Conan, about the project moving forward.”

Even though this is beyond the state of “rumors” we must emphasize that this is not a confirmation that Schwarzenegger will be in “The Predator.” I would say that chances are better than 50/50 since he does have an interest in the film and Shane Black was part of the original cast. But with dates, coordination, and all other things that go into film production, the stars may just not be aligned for this to happen.

For as many “Predator” films we’ve seen, I do hope that they find a way to incorporate Dutch into the story. It’s been too long and there’s been too many films without the character so I think as far as timing goes, the next film would be a perfect way of completing that circle. Much like Han Solo going for one last ride in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

What are your thoughts on Arnold returning to the “Predator” franchise?

Predator is a great film. At the time when Arnold was playing these over the top, unstoppable characters, having him and a group of hard-asses being hunted down and picked off one by one really through some folks for a loop. My brother had the comic book sequel to the film in which Dutch’s brother was an L.A. cop up against a Predator killing people in the city during a heatwave. Predator 2 was a loose adaption, with Danny Glover’s character replacing Dutch’s brother as the main. Real shame that they changed the ending in which police and gangbangers teamed… Read more »

I find it interesting how Total Recall, Conan and Terminator despite how hard they tried couldn’t separate themselves from Arnold franchises, he’s just that ingrained to it. But Predator maybe the one series that could stay in pop culture without him. Like what I mean is I don’t think of Predator as an Arnold movie, he just happens to be in the first one.

All that being said I’d love for him to come back. As long as they don’t do like his planned cameo in Predators where he would have apparently joined the Predators and become one of them.
